Top 5 things you must do when you travel to Pisa

If you are planning to travel to Italy, you should include Pisa in your travel plans. Pisa is a beautiful Italian city, located in the Tuscany region. The city sits on the banks of the Arno River in the central part of the country, even though the city is small, there are plenty of thing to do in Pisa:

Take funny pictures at the Leaning tower and Campo dei Miracoli

The leaning tower, duomo and baptistery are iconic sites that you must see when you travel to Pisa. Campo dei Miracoli or Field of Miracles, has four marvellous buildings worth to admired.  You can go for a walk in the green lawns, have a picnic and take great pictures. The ticket to enter the tower is pricey (18 EUR) but it also includes the cathedral. Once up the view of the city is astonishing.

Visit the Natural Park of San Rossore

Pisa has a lot of park and gardens. The largest natural park in Pisa is San Rossore, which stretches from the town to the coast. You could explore this park on foot, riding a bicycle, or you could have a ride on a horse-drawn carriage.

Relax in Giardino Scotto

One of the most beautiful gardens is Giardino Scotto, this garden is inside an ancient fortress built by Florentines on XV century. This place is not frequented by tourist, instead is used by locals, you could have a relaxing time walking or resting in the sun. The entrance is free.

Take a walk in the banks of the Armo river

The Arno river goes along the city, so its riversides are easily reachable from many streets. Walking along the banks of Arno is very pleasant particularly near the Santa Maria della Spina church on the Arno Gambacorti. This Gothic church is famous because one of the spurs from the Jesus Christ crown of thorns was kept there for many centuries. 

Watch a show in the main theatre

The Verdi theatre is a lovely 750-seat theatre built between 1865-1867. The scene of the theather is one of the largest in Italy with its 26 m depth and its 32 m wide.  Today the Verdi Theater offers all kinds of shows: operas, classical and modern ballets, plays, concerts, and even   modern music.
